So, the Scotts arrived around lunch time on the 4th. We had lunch and then all the festivities began. The Scotts brought Rock Band and Wii. These are interactive video games the whole gang could participate in. Pat was the worst singer. Lisa was best singer. Catherine and Elisabeth were best musicians. We had dinner around 6PM. Dinner consisted of pulled pork, smoked chicken, grilled Conecuh sausage, potato salad, baked beans, blue berry cake and Aunt Mari's chocolate desert. We then loaded up and headed to the fire work show at Sokol Park. Sensing the impending traffic jam, Pat detoured to the parking lot over at Northridge High school. Some other folks had the same idea, but there was plenty of parking and some localized firework activity. After the show we returned home and played scrabble and Scatergories. Erin won the most scrabble games, scoring an individual game high of 172. She also had a high score of 50 points for one word. Lisa played Scrabble well. Other notable players were Elisabeth and Catherine. Uncle David enjoyed helping everyone. Even though the games were hotly contested, with frequent word challenges, there were no fist fights or spitting. We shut down for the night around 1130PM. We spent part of Saturday discussing the snoring habits of the Scott family. No Champlins were reported to have snored. Pat, Mari and David left for the golf course around 715AM. The group met Jack and began a round of golf at 820AM. Lighting forced suspension of play for awhile on the 5th hole. This was shortly after Pat holed out the 4th hole from 120 yards out with a 9 iron. Every one said it was the most amazing shot they had ever known about while they were playing. When play resumed, Jack chipped in from about 15 yards. He also nearly drove the 320 yard 18th hole. The golfers returned around 1PM, had lunch and then more board games, bird watching, video games etc. occurred. Board games were played till about 1030PM when most of us passed out. On Sunday morning, Pat prepared fabulous blueberry pancakes. The crowd then thinned out, Joanna the last to leave after lunch. The Champlins enjoyed the weekend and look forward to July 4, 2009. If you couldn't make it this year, you need to mark your calender for next year. Here is a slide show of the weekends activities.
