2009 Blue Angels

Pat, Lisa, Erin and Jack went to the Blue Angels air show yesterday. It was a beautiful day for an air show. There were around 100,000 people there. We were able to park at the University Hanger, so we didn't have far to walk. While at the hanger we looked at the UA jet. Erin and Jack sat in the cockpit. The pilot "Butch" was hired by Bear Bryant, the former coach at Alabama. He is from Gordo (Butch, not Bear) and went to high school with some of Pat's friends. Anyway we toured all the planes on the ground and then found ourselves a spot to watch the show. It was sunny and hot. Due to time constraints, we had to watch the Blue Angels from the hanger. Pat also watched them practice on Friday.

An interesting side note to the show was what happened to Erin and Jack Thursday evening. They went to a local pub and saw some guys wearing Hawaiian shirts which is what the Blue Angel pilots traditionally wear when out on the town. The kids approached the guys in the colorful shirts and sure enough they were the Blue Angel pilots. They spent a few hours with the pilots and had a great time with them. Maybe Erin will blog some about it.

Here is a write up about the show from the Tuscaloosa News. Glad we didn't have to ride one the buses into the show.

Here are some Pics Pat and Lisa took.

Here is the movie:
