Thursday in SoCal

We are staying at The Beach Terrace Inn in Carlsbad, CA.  We drove down to San Diego after breakfast.  We toured the Gas Lamp District.  Mostly did some shopping.  The area is probably a more happening place after dark, but still some interesting stuff and people to look at.  After that we drove out to Coronado Island.  After lunch we walked around the old Hotel Del Coronado hotel.  In the medians of the boulevards out here you will see Hibiscus trees, bougainvillea and oleander.  There aren't to many left wing nut jobs visisble out here.  I did see a car this morning with some writing on it claiming John Lennon's murder was a Nixon/Reagan conspiracy and that Stephen King pulled the trigger.

Here is a picture of the hotel.

This is the beach out behind the hotel.  I think that is the La Jolla area off in the distance.

A Bird of Paradise on the hotel grounds...

The back of the hotel.  We can't afford to stay at this place.

Again, looking towards the Pacific out back.  They don't check your ID at this place.

Some statice growing on the grounds.  Also known as sea lavender.

An unusual tree or bush on the grounds.

A lovely picture of Lisa.

Huge norfolk pine looking tree.

Some kind of Californian hydrangea on the grounds.

Undetermined ground cover.

We drove along the beach back to Carlsbad.  We stopped at Torrey Pines Golf Course.  Here is a picture, that is the Pacific Ocean in the back ground.

We stopped in Del Mar and went into a surf shop.  That was a neat little town.  This morning I went for a nice run beside the Pacific Ocean.  Dave Matthews Band tonight in Chula Vista.
