2007 Holiday Cotillion

The 2007 Holiday Cotillion has come and gone. It was held at the Bryant Conference Center on the University of Alabama campus. It was a very pleasant experience for us all. Erin wore a long white gown and gloves, Lisa wore a stunning persimmon colored evening gown while Pat was attired in a Black Tie Tuxedo.

Pat and Erin had rehearsed their duties Friday evening. After the rehearsal we picked up Lisa and went to a party at the Cork Mansion. It was nice. There was a guy playing some Dave Matthews tunes on the guitar. They also had some tasty finger foods and soda waters.

On Saturday, we had to get all dressed and have our pictures taken at 11:30 AM. We returned to the Bryant Center at 7PM. The girls were having a group picture. At 730 the fathers and daughters lined up for the lead out which started at 8PM. Pat and Erin walked on to the stage and Erin had to curtsy to the crowd. We then walked out the runway, about 60 feet (seemed like 300 feet) and curtsy again at the end, then turn around and walk back, all with out falling off the stage. There seemed to be 4 or 5000 people in the place but probably only 500 or so. The spot lights were blinding so we couldn't really see all those folks and we weren't too nervous. The mothers and grandmothers had seats along the runway. After it was over, the fathers and daughters danced to the first dance to the tune "My Girl". That was special because Pat always sang that to Erin when she was a baby. After that we just kind of hung around, eating some more delicious finger foods, washed down with soda waters. We actually knew some people there that weren't in our group. We also enjoyed mingling with Erin's friends. She has a wonderful group of friends.

Here are some pictures from the evening.
