Pat and Lisa's swell trip to Atlanta

Pat and Lisa went to Atlanta to see John Mayer ( http://www.johnmayer.com/ ) at the Chastain Park Amphitheater . We drove over Saturday morning. When we got to Atlanta we went to Lenox Square mall. We had lunch at the Corner Bakery. It was good. We then went and found Chastain Park and scouted out the parking. We had a 5PM reservation to eat dinner at the Horseradish Grill http://www.horseradishgrill.com. We figured out a spot where we could park, walk to the restuarant and then walk to the amphitheater. Then we went to the hotel, the Marriot at the corner of Peachtree and Dunwoody. There we met up with Debbie and David. We left the hotel, and Pat flawlessly got the group back to the desired parking spot at Chastain Park. We arrived at the restuarant at about 5:01 PM. We were the first patrons to arrive, as the restuarant team was getting their final instructions on handling the onslaught of the evenings patrons. After the waiter told us what the specials were, for starters David ordered a ceaser salad and shared some with Debbie. Since David was picking up the tab, Pat went with the lobster salad. It was tasty though Lisa didn't care for it. For entrees, Lisa and Debbie chose the founder, stuffed with lobster and crabmeat dressing. David went with the filet. Pat selected the sesame tuna. It was all deliciuos. We were all stuffed but couldn't say no to desert. We shared lemon chess pie, oatmeal spice cake with caramel ice cream and chocalate layer cake. The chocalate cake was the best, we all agreed. We lifted ourselves out of our seats and headed to the concert. As we were walking to the venue, we passed some kids sitting in their car playing a Dave Matthews tune, "So Damn Lucky". Little did we know how lucky we were about to be. We walked on into the amphitheater, made our way up to our seats on row EE, seats 103, 104, 105 and 106 and sat down. It was a cool, clear night, and sure to get cooler. The amphitheater was kind of neat. It was built in the 1940s. Down in front of the stage there were tables where you could sit and dine if you were "lucky". Those were high dollars seats, we were sure. Each row of the amphitheater was wide enough that the attendees could set up a small table and eat their pre concert fare. We were just a few rows from the top. Around 7PM, some lady started reading off anouncements, such as where the exits were, that if you'd parked illegally your cars would get towed, etc. Then she announced that the folks sitting in the seats located at row EE, seats 103, 104, 105 and 106 had won an updrade to row 5 of the dining section and dinner for 4 from Longhorn Steak house. At first we were all confused. Then Lisa wept with Joy. Pat wondered if he had heard right, were we just going down there for dinner? If so, we'd alreay eaten and Pat didn't want to go all the way down there just to eat and then have to go back to the nose bleed section. As we made our way down to our new seats we realized it wasn't a dream. When we got to our table, we were warmly greeted by surrounding concert goers. Some lady kept talking to us, she was a little juiced up and Lisa thinks she wanted to sit in Pat's lap. The Longhorn folks took our pictures and are supposed to email them to us. So the show went on and it was a good one. John Mayer put on a great show. We were so close, Lisa remarked she could see the spit coming out of his mouth. Pat could see he needed some crest white strips. Debbie seemed to enjoy the show. Pat thinks he might start taking bass guitar lessons. David said he enjoyed the show. Pat saw David singing along on one of the last tunes. All in all it was a good time for all.
