A little bit of Vail in Midland....The Smiling Moose Deli

We started the day trying to go get our Texas drivers licenses.  We forgot to take our birth certificates with us.  So we went to Lowe's.  While there we saw one of Pat's co-workers.  This was the first time we have been out in public in Midland and saw someone we knew and also talked to them.  After lunch we went back to the license shop.  Pat waved at someone he knew from work.  After sitting in the waiting area for 1.5 hours, Pat's lucky number was called.  Later, we had a delicious dinner at the Smiling Moose Deli .  They have one of these in Vail, CO.  It was delicious.  I'm sure we'll return many times in the next 9 years and 7 months.  We also saw someone from Sunday School class and talked to them.  We can't go anywhere in this town without seeing someone we know now.

Here are some pictures.

The neighborhood drilling rig is getting closer.

The finches figured out how to drink from the soaker hose.  They can't figure out the birdbath though.

The white winged dove, made famous by this Stevie Nicks tune.

Lisa hung a new finchbird feeder.

A hummingbird flew by this morning.

The weather is improving.  Monday's high will be in the mid 80s.  Lows in the low 50s.  A check of the weather for Santa Fe in the first week of October shows average high of 70 degrees, lows 39.  Sweet.
