Day 5
We had breakfast in the casa. We then drove out to Wild Rivers Recreational Area. This is about 30 miles north of Taos. It is located between the Rio Grand and Red rivers.
This is where rivers converge. You can hike down the La Junta trail to the point of convergence. We decided to do this. The trail to the convergence was 1.2 miles with an 800 foot drop in elevation. The hike was rated moderate to difficult. We only made it about half way down due to time constraints.

This is a picture taken from up river on the Rio Grande.

We snuck up on this mule deer as we were driving.
We got back to town and what else did we do but shop. Lisa loves to shop till she drops. We went in a shop and the lady was a native of South Africa. She had lived in Atlanta for a while. She talked alot. Finally the phone rang and we left. When we finished shopping we stopped at a little open air coffee stand. Lisa had an iced mocha while Pat sucked down a Raspberry Lemonade. Some dude asked Pat where he got his pants. Then we shopped some more. It was finally dinner time so we went to the Apple Tree Restaurant http://appletreerestaurant.com/ We had chips with salsa and guacamole. Lisa had the Apple Tree salad. Pat had the chili rellenos. It was good.
